Ideal for taking on the road or as a companion instrument , the performance series Tui has been designed for the professional musician who wants all the playability and tone of my high-end models, without adding the cost of rare woods and embellishments.
To maintain the highest quality tone, I have included my Waingarara kauri for the soundboard along with the same high quality hardware and construction employed in all my Tui models. The main difference in the performance series is the use of NZ Taraire for the back and sides and the understated binding/purfling. Also, the kauri soundboards may come with a few swirl marks in the grain but are otherwise of the same tone quality as my first grade soundboards
For those unfamiliar with NZ Taraire, it is a native hardwood and has a density in the same range as brazillian rosewood.
